WSSO Joins 2025 Qingdao International Standardization Conference to Redefine Global Sustainability

2025-07-11

QINGDAO, July 9, 2025 – The World Sustainability Standard Organization (WSSO) actively participated in the 2025 Qingdao International Standardization Conference, joining global standardization bodies, industry experts and stakeholders to advance international cooperation under the guiding theme “High-Level Standards for High-Quality Development.” This participation underscores WSSO’s commitment to shaping a more coordinated and impactful global sustainability framework.

The 2025 Qingdao International Standardization Conference served as a pivotal platform for global standardization dialogue and collaboration, gathering representatives from major international organizations including the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). It provided a valuable opportunity for all participants to exchange insights, align on key priorities, and strengthen cooperation in advancing global standardization for sustainable development.

Alec Saltikoff, CEO of WSSO, delivered a keynote speech at the conference, focusing on the critical integration of standards, technology, and industry as the core driving force behind global sustainable development. His remarks centered on three key strategic areas that are essential to redefining global sustainability governance:

Technology-Enabled Verification: Leveraging digital and regulatory technologies to enhance the credibility, transparency, and enforceability of sustainability standards, ensuring that standards are not only scientifically sound but also effectively implemented in practice.

Global Governance Innovation: Promoting innovative mechanisms for cross-border standardization cooperation, including the development and application of digital tools to support the operation and integration of global carbon markets, breaking down regional barriers to sustainable development.

Industrial Application: Accelerating the practical implementation of sustainability standards in key fields such as ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) evaluation, carbon accounting, and green finance, bridging the gap between standard formulation and industrial practice.

WSSO’s active participation in the 2025 Qingdao International Standardization Conference further strengthened its engagement in global standardization dialogue and cooperation. It also demonstrated the growing role of emerging international standardization organizations like WSSO in shaping global sustainable development frameworks, as well as its commitment to promoting high-level standards that support high-quality global development.

Moving forward, WSSO will continue to deepen cooperation with global standardization bodies, academic institutions, and industrial enterprises. It will focus on promoting the in-depth integration of sustainability standards with technological innovation and industrial practice, striving to build a more coordinated, efficient, and inclusive global sustainability governance system, and contributing to the achievement of global sustainable development goals.
