The Nobel Sustainability Trust (hereby “NST”), the PB Nobel Sustainability Capital Group (“NSCG”), the World Sustainability Standards Organization (“WSSO”), and the Central Bank Digital Currency Collaboration Organization (“CBDCCO”) will jointly inaugurate the Nobel Sustainability World Science Academy (“NSWSA,” “the Academy”) on September 28th in Paris in commemoration of the upcoming 9th anniversary of the signing of the Paris Agreement.
The NSWSA also announces four Honorees to receive the title of “Lifetime Academician” for having made crucial contribution to the signing of the Paris Agreement. They are, respectively, Mr. Ban Ki-moon, Former Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. François Hollande, former French President, Mr. Xie Zhenhua, former Special Climate Envoy of the People’s Republic of China, and Mr. John Kerry, former United States Secretary of State and U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate.
The Academy will set up a global climate rating, indexing, and registration center, which operations cover real world assets such as voluntary carbon credits (transportation, forestry, agriculture, blue carbon, etc.), renewable energy certificates (RECs) (nuclear, nuclear fusion, wind, photoelectric, geothermal, etc.), nature-as-an-asset certificates and biodiversity certificates (for biomes such as tropical forests, bodies of water, mountains, farmlands, polar biomes). All registration and certification process will follow the guidelines and framework of major international organizations, such as ISO, SBTI, COP, UNGC, WRI, WWF, TSVCM/ICVCM, etc. The Academy will focus on AI-based data synchronization to facilitate conversion of standards into common trading currency. Multiple universities and institutes are participating in the long-term technology development and standard making process.
For the first time in history, all carbon credits and RECs will be issued through a scientifically developed dMRVS (digital measurement, reporting, verification, and storage) process based on AI cloud, edge computing, and blockchain. Without disrupting the existing diverse standards and registration processes, the “AI equivalent calculator engine group,”, which enables the verification, fungibility, compliance, and securitization of carbon assets, will support the datafication-based fungibility and standardization conversion. More AI application engines are being built to empower global businesses for UN, the World Bank, central bank-approved clearances and payments, securities authorities, and anti-fraud and money laundering detections. The Academy will also install several divisions, including the first global climate technology development and trading platform to facilitate the formation of the global market for the aforementioned assets, the zero carbon alliance, as well as a global media center for marketing and promotion.
The Academy will work with CBDCCO to create the first global carbon market. Meanwhile, it will also promote the creation of both a global non-cash-based barter and swap market network and a regulated securities exchange network to truly create global marketplaces for the sustainability economy. The Academy will launch educational initiatives such as post-doctorate programs, visiting scholar programs, and other certification programs, collaborating with world leading universities, starting with Cambridge University in 2025. It will appoint an academician committee comprised of Nobel laureates and Nobel Sustainability Award recipients.
Dr. Philippe Douste-Blazy, former Under-Secretary-General of UN and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Culture and Minister of Health of France, will serve as the Executive Chairman of the Academy. Dr. Peter Knez, former Global Co-Chief Investment Officer of Blackrock, former Global Head of Fixed Income of Barclays and former Professor of Northwestern University, will serve as CEO of the Academy. Mr. Peter Nobel and Dr. Bruno Wu will serve as Chairmen of the Academy. Ms. Lan Yang will serve as Chief Media Officer of the Academy. Mr. David Malpas, former President of the World Bank, will serve as an advisor to Greifenberg Analytics, which serves as the AI-based indexing service to NSWSA.
